Saraswati Puja is a great festival it is also known as Vasant Panchami. Saraswati Puja is celebrated on the 2nd Phalgun 2080 full moon day. It is named’ Shri Panchami’ as well.

According to Bishnu Puran, Goddess Laxmi had said to Narada that if a woman does fasting from this day, on each of the 5th after the full moon day (i.e. every month) for six years. She would be happy, her husband will love her, and remain prosperous throughout her life. For this reason, some women start fasting from this day and continue the same every month for six years. So, this festival is called Shri Panchami. 

Some people worship Lord Bishnu according to the instructions written in a book called ‘Hemadri’. Some people also worship ‘Rati’ and ‘Kamadeva’ following the instructions given in a book called ‘Charak Samhita’. Similarly, some people, mainly in the Terai, worship Lord Krishna and play with color (Like Holi) and rejoice together.

About Saraswati Puja

It is believed that Goddess Saraswati comes through Lhasa every year.
